The San Francisco Giants kept Kauffman Stadium quiet en route to a 7-1 Game 1 victory in the 2014 edition of the World Series. Early overnight reports say that this was the lowest rated World Series game in history.
The Giants were led by pitching ace Madison Baumgarner, who held the Royals scoreless until the 7th Inning when Salvador Perez homered with two outs. Baumgarner improved to 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA in World Series starts. Prior to Perez homering, Baumgarner had retired12 players in a row.
“It’s tough not to pay attention to a streak when you’ve got it going. I don’t care. I’m not here trying to set records and keep streaks going and whatever, but you do know about it. A World Series game is not something you exactly forget about. So you remember what [they] were. But tonight, that was the last thing on my mind.”
Game two of the World Series begins tonight at 7:07 P.M. Plenty of affordable tickets and great seats are still available so get yours now and be a part of the action!
